The Yoga of Happiness: Aligning with Our Essential Nature

Welcome to The Yoga of Happiness.
I’m delighted to offer this teaching again this summer in the Ashaya Yoga Membership. It’s such an uplifting, positive, and life-transforming journey to deepen our understanding of happiness.
In many traditions, happiness is seen as fleeting—something superficial or even dangerous. The belief is that if we become attached to happiness, it will inevitably dissolve into its opposite: suffering.
But in Living Tantra of the Heart, happiness is redefined as unreasonable happiness—a happiness that exists for no reason at all. It’s the state that arises when we align with our highest Self and elevate our vibration to the frequency of Ānanda—bliss.
This bliss is infinite, unchanging, and always present.
Before I came to yoga, I didn’t truly know what happiness was, let alone Ānanda. Even now, with the constant demands and challenges of life, I can lose touch with it. Happiness can feel easily stolen away.
Most of us have forgotten how to access this deeper level of joy.
Yoga offers a pathway back. It reconnects us to the joy that is our essential nature. This joy is woven into our very DNA, yet somehow, we’ve forgotten it. Through these teachings, we’ll reconnect with the unchanging, Absolute part of ourselves—the presence within that vibrates with the highest joy and lives inside us as loving, listening, compassionate wisdom.

This June, July, and August, we’ll explore what happiness truly means, how to cultivate more joy, and what stands in the way of it. Each month, we’ll approach happiness through a different lens to deepen both our understanding and our lived experience of it in daily life.
In June, we’ll explore happiness through the five elements—earth, water, fire, air, and sky.
In July, we’ll explore happiness as an innate power we all possess, yet often unknowingly leak it out to others or through self-doubt, unworthiness, or resistance to what is. These “power leaks” need to be plugged if we are to truly find and keep our happiness.

In August, we’ll take a deeper dive into the patterns and inner narratives that diminish our joy. We’ll look at the samskaras—the wounds and imprints of the past—that keep us repeating limiting stories and blocking our capacity for true happiness. Through self-acceptance and self-compassion, we’ll courageously bring awareness to these patterns, so transformation becomes possible.
I invite you to join me this summer in The Yoga of Happiness and open yourself to this life-transforming possibility.
Namaste, Todd
